LOCAL HIRING POLICY
Jemyan is a local privately owned company operating throughout the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Jemyan’s staff consists of more than 90% Kurdish nationals.
The company has a strict “Local Hire Policy” that places great emphasis on locally hired unskilled labor, along with locally available materials and equipment. The
term ‘Local’ extends to regional in the context of Kurdistan. Jemyan recognizes that the utilization of local material and labor has the following benefits:
- Leverages the internal value chain and creates a sustainable and inclusive growth strategy;
- Provides economic diversification and localized employment opportunities;
- Through early engagement fosters better community involvement;
- Preserves local employment opportunities;
- Reduces the environmental impact of commuting and transportation of materials and equipment;
- Provides training and skills for local unskilled labor.
PROCESS
Jemyan places great emphasis on community involvement for all of its projects. Before the commencement of all Jemyan projects, Jemyan Community Relations staff works closely with local authorities and community leaders, and our clients at all stages of a project.
We aim to procure a diverse range of goods and services from locally-owned businesses within and immediately adjacent to our project areas, hiring qualified locals’ drivers, security staff and for cooks/cleaners.
JEMYAN PROJECTS
Jemyan will hire the following personnel and equipment for its construction projects from local communities (if available):
UNSKILLED LABOR
- Drivers;
- General Labor;
- Security Staff
- Cooks;
- Cleaners;
- Store-men.
EQUIPMENT (NOTE: MUST BE HSE APPROVED)
- Graders;
- Compactors;
- Other equipment as required.
POSITION INFORMATION
Should the company decide that a vacancy exists or will exist and that it must be filled, it will prepare a job description with the relevant details of the position. The job detail will include:
